In 2004, a former Cumbrian rally champion and his navigator made a return to rallying - 15 years after giving up
the sport. |
Driver Brett Mitton from Crofton, near Wigton and navigator Alan Bouch from Hayton, had been crowned
Cumbrian champions in 1987 before the former quit to set up his own printing business. |
But 3 years ago, he caught the rallying bug again. |
"I still knew a few people at M-Sport and |
arranged for my friend, who was suffering from motor neurone disease, to go for a test drive". |
"They let me have a go and I remembered why I'd enjoyed it so much." |
Six months later, he decided it was time to get back in the driving seat after 15 years in exile. |
The rally pair teamed up again and have now been back together for around 2 1/2 years. They are
currently competing in the ANCC Northern Rally Championship and STC Scottish Tarmack Championship. |
They are now currently supported by Swindon Racing Engines. |
